Conceptual Relevance
Psyche
The conceptual relevance within the narrative falls in the Psyche category as the film deals with mental conflict. The genre psychological thriller already defines the kind of conflict that will occur. The main protagonist, Dr. Gilbert Gumede, has developed three other personalities due to him not being able to deal with the Post-traumatic stress disorder he gained from being attacked in prison, while pursuing to further his understanding of the human mind.Pasquale Rossi speaks on the psyche and the human make up or need for association with the mind, body and soul, in order to feel a form of acceptance from society. Pasquale Rossi states “tendency toward effective memory is born from the psychological reason of association, according to which what appears once together in the field of the psyche tends to reawaken. In the struggle for survival, this tendency has grown and has been strengthened by human beings. It is certain that by being able to guess the inner emotion of the soul from external signs, one can bring solace to oneself and to others.” (Rossi, 2017).

Emotional Relevance
Personal Development
The emotional relevance lies within Gilbert’s character binary which is: self-improvement vs. self-sabotage, these fall into the emotional relevance of personal development. That being said, Monell Weatherly speaks on the importance of self-evaluation as a first step to then reaching self-improvement. Self-evaluation requires introspection and although Gilbert is a highly talented therapist, his own trauma and mental instability is clouding his personal assessments of himself, this is further hindering his personal development and making him incapable of being rational. Monell reiterates that self-evaluation is the best possible way to recognize your clear strengths and clear weaknesses, as that is the starting point in recognizing what you need to build on and what you need to strengthen to achieve self-improvement. (Weatherly,1989).
Target Audience
Our primary target audience focuses on the youth mainly of South Africa, so those that aren’t too caught up in their beliefs of mental illness being a luxury only for those that can afford the treatment/help. We aim to hit the ages of 16 – 30 years of age, as the people between these ages have seen an increase in mental illnesses like depression, anxiety etc. The social pressures of today's world are affecting the way that people want to be seen or perceived by each other, this is forcing a lot of youths or adults in their late 20’s and early 30’s to want and portray a lifestyle that they don’t live. Social media is the easiest medium to blame public judgment for getting worse but the constant eyes on people and the constant criticism is another reason for people’s reluctance to be open about their mental state.
The secondary target audience would be within the ages of 25 and 50, due to the possible lack of support that they feel they never got when growing up. The current climate is definitely one that is more in-tune with their sensitivity, than the older generations, who weren’t as medically advanced or aware.
The third target audience will speak directly to people of colour as we tend to have strong beliefs in other traditions or powers, which lead some of us astray or enable some to ignore seeking medical advice.

Genre
Psychological Thriller
Virginia Luzón Aguado, goes in depth in context of genres and the need to properly categorize them in order to clearly define the differences between films and their settings. Virginia Luzón Aguado, specifically speaks towards the thriller genre and its further development from gangster noir films in Hong Kong, where suspense thrillers were often tested, to see how more complex but realistic characters would compare to the standard villain. (Aguado, 2002). Virginia Luzón Aguado, is all about the critical attention that has been paid to the thriller genre, which leads to the discovery of the psychothriller genre, building internal suspense and making use of more suggestive narratives to bring on mystery and suspense. “Do You Mind?” makes full use of inner conflict and prolongs the discovery of Gilbert’s condition to Sindi as it all escalated quite quickly towards the ending of the film to create an impactful climax. The story in itself is quite the slow burner, although it hints at certain plot devices, such as Gilbert’s loud finger tapping to suggest that a different personality is struggling for the limelight.
